Bucs’ Jarrett & Edmonds Set to Start Season on IR

Bucs' Rakim Jarrett and Chase Edmonds are expected to start the season on injured reserve due to injuries.

Two of the Buccaneers’ offensive skill position and special teams players are unfortunately grappling with injuries that will spill into the regular season, making things a bit dicey for the team.

Tough Start Ahead for Rakim Jarrett and Chase Edmonds

Bucs coach Todd Bowles faced the media today with some bittersweet news: wide receiver Rakim Jarrett and running back Chase Edmonds are expected to commence the season on injured reserve.

Under the current NFL regulations, teams have the leeway to place two players on injured reserve on the final roster cut date and bring them back during the regular season. A silver lining, though, as in yesteryears, any player placed on injured reserve up to the final roster cut would be out for the entire season. So, come Tuesday, during the final roster cuts, it looks like Jarrett and Edmonds will take a temporary seat, only to re-enter the fray at some point during the schedule.

Jarrett’s Underdog Journey

Jarrett’s journey is nothing short of a rags-to-riches tale. Making the Bucs roster as an undrafted rookie last year, he showcased tenacity, featuring in 10 games. The crowd will surely miss those electrifying snaps from Rakim, but we know this young gun is built for resilience!

The Veteran in Edmonds

On the other side of the coin is Chase Edmonds, a journeyman who has donned the jerseys of the Cardinals, Dolphins, and Broncos. Signing with the Buccaneers last year, he grinded out 13 games with characteristic finesse. Edmonds’ experience and grit on the field will be sorely missed in the early stages of the season.

Grateful for NewNIGhts

In the labyrinth of NFL rules, it’s crucial to note that placing these key players on injured reserve isn’t the end of the road, but rather a strategic move. As we know, the NFL is a game of inches—every decision counts, from filling out the roster to clinching the Super Bowl. Bowles and his coaching staff are undoubtedly keeping their fingers on the pulse, plotting their next moves with a chess player’s deliberate precision.

As we brace ourselves for the glittering chaos that the NFL season promises, let’s keep our spirits high for Jarrett and Edmonds—they’ll be back, hungrier than ever!

Hang tight, Buc Nation. The storm may be brewing, but our ship only sails stronger through turbulent seas.
