Mike White wasn’t the only former Jet to hit a roadblock in his quest to join another team this Sunday.
Denzel Mims Released by Jaguars
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars have decided to part ways with wide receiver Denzel Mims. Coincidentally, this announcement comes on the heels of Mike White’s release from the Miami Dolphins earlier in the day. Talk about a double whammy for ex-Jets!
From Jets Prospect to NFL Nomad
Mims, a former second-round pick back in 2020, had a turbulent tenure with the New York Jets. Over the course of his three-year stint, he showcased glimpses of potential but was ultimately traded to the Detroit Lions last July. Life as a Lion, however, was short-lived as he couldn’t cement a spot on the team. Following his release from the Lions, Mims made a brief appearance on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad, only to be cut earlier this year. It seemed like he was getting some traction when he signed with the Jags in June, but fate had different plans.
During his time with the Jets, Mims racked up 42 catches for 676 yards. While he undoubtedly has raw talent, it appears the stars didn’t quite align for him with the Jaguars. Now, his challenge is to find a new home and prove his worth once more—because if he wants to add to those numbers, he’s gotta land somewhere soon.
The Roller Coaster Ride Continues
In the NFL, careers can be a roller coaster ride—one minute you’re on top, the next you’re searching for answers. Just like catching a Hail Mary pass, the journey can be unpredictable and exhilarating. Mims’ career so far has been full of unexpected turns, but let’s not forget he has the speed and flair to surprise us yet again. Will he find his breakthrough team and make those crucial catches that take him to gridiron glory? Only time will tell. One thing’s for sure, the NFL never ceases to keep us on the edge of our seats!
