Alvin Kamara is aiming for a long-term deal, and he’s well aware that without one, this season could be his farewell tour in New Orleans. Facing such uncertainty, reporters couldn’t resist asking Kamara about putting his New Orleans home on the market.
“What, you shopping for a crib?” Kamara quipped with a smile, a moment of levity captured brilliantly.
Kamara’s lavish abode, a sprawling 6,924-square-foot palace built just last year, hit the market for a cool $2.75 million. An embodiment of versatility, Kamara prides himself as a “serial entrepreneur” dabbling in various ventures, including the chancy realm of real estate.
“Was there an exact game plan? Well, not really, but I’m not one to make moves half-heartedly when it comes to real estate,” he pointed out. “I’ve got other properties scattered around the Big Easy. So, if this one goes today, I have my bases covered.”
With two years remaining on his contract and 2024’s salary cap hit swamping the team at $18.5 million—the highest on the squad—the Saints find themselves in a bind. Kamara’s potential cap hit mushrooms to $29 million in 2025, with zero guaranteed money. New Orleans might just have to pull the pin and snag $18.9 million in cap savings if no new deal materializes.
Turbulence at Minicamp
In June, Kamara made headlines by storming out of the team’s final day of mandatory minicamp, a bold gesture signifying his discontent with the ongoing contract talks.
Even with his future in flux, Kamara understands the urgency of the moment.
Time Waits for No One
“I feel like there is no time to waste, because let’s just say I’m at the halfway point, if I were to play 16 years,” Kamara mused, now stepping into his eighth season. “Or 10 years, I’m on the back end of my career. I don’t want to waste no time.”
The running back’s fiery determination is palpable. “I don’t want to sit here and say, ‘I’ve got time. I’ve got time.’ Ain’t no time, so I’m trying to run it up. I’m trying to do what I can to have the most success. And in this league, we measure success by Super Bowls and playing in February. That’s what I’m trying to get to.”
Consistency Personified
Kamara’s career might lack the glittering 1,000-yard season but don’t let that fool you. He’s a five-time Pro Bowler, the heartbeat of the Saints’ offense. Last season, he piled up 694 yards and five touchdowns in just 13 games, a model of consistent excellence.
With uncertainty looming over both his real estate portfolio and NFL career, Alvin Kamara continues to prove himself as a man on a mission, driven by passion and purpose.
The gridiron calls, and Kamara’s not just ready—he’s aiming to soar, leaving every ounce of doubt in the dust. Saints fans can only hope that Kamara’s next move is as electrifying as his play on the field.
