Bears’ Douglas Coleman III Injured, Rushed to Hospital During Preseason Clash

Bears defenseman Douglas Coleman III was taken off the field in an ambulance during a preseason game, causing concern.

In a heart-pounding moment during Thursday night’s preseason clash between the Chicago Bears and the Kansas City Chiefs, Bears safety Douglas Coleman III was carried off the field by ambulance.

Coleman’s injury occurred right at the start of the second-half scrimmage during a tackle. Positioned behind Chiefs wide receiver Cornell Powell, Coleman’s neck appeared to snap back upon contact with Powell’s body, resulting in a chilling scene that had fans holding their breath.

The gravity of the situation was evident as medical personnel quickly attended to Powell, placing him on a stabilization board before the ambulance arrived to transport him for further medical evaluation.

At just 26 years old, Coleman is on a mission to carve out a place for himself in the NFL. After going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft following his collegiate career at Texas Tech, he spent two seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks in the Canadian Football League. This preseason was a critical juncture in his journey to secure a spot on Chicago’s roster.

The NFL community collectively holds its breath, sending positive thoughts for Coleman’s swift recovery. His unyielding determination and passion for the game reflect the spirit of football—undeterred and resilient. Here’s to hoping we see Douglas Coleman III back on the field again soon, stronger and ready to make his mark in the NFL.
