Cards’ Rookie DL Robinson Set for Calf MRI

Cardinals rookie DL Darius Robinson undergoes MRI for injured calf, ruling out significant damage.

Big news from the Arizona Cardinals camp! Reports surfaced on Thursday revealing that rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson sustained an injury during practice. On Friday, Coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed that Robinson hurt his calf and is undergoing an MRI to unearth the extent of the damage.

Coach’s Frustration: The Injury Leak

Adding salt to the wound, the incident took place during the closed portion of practice. Coach Gannon was visibly irritated about the leak. “Reports that came out happened in the closed portion of practice, so I’m not real fired up about that, guys,” Gannon shared, as caught on video by PHNX_Cardinals. “The guys that were there and didn’t report on it, thank you for adhering to our policy.”

He somberly added, “He’s getting imaging today. He’s got a calf.” While that might sound cryptic, it’s classic Gannon: straightforward and resolute.

Fingers Crossed: Hoping for the Best

The Cardinals are certainly crossing their fingers that Robinson’s injury turns out to be a mere strain and not a tear. The team has already been hit hard, with their star pass rusher BJ Ojulari sidelined for the season due to a torn ACL. It’s like losing a key piece in a game of chess, right?

The team’s aspirations for Robinson are sky-high. Drafted as the 27th overall pick, this young gun has a lot riding on his shoulders. Recently, Coach Gannon went on record saying Robinson had a “1000 percent” chance to snag a starting job – that’s no hyperbole. And it isn’t just the coach who’s gushing; fellow defensive lineman L.J. Collier lauded Robinson as a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year. Such high praise is bound to stir up the pot!

On the Depth Chart

As things stand, Robinson is currently listed as second-team on the latest depth chart. He’s behind seasoned veterans like defensive tackles Justin Jones and Bilal Nichols, and nose tackle Roy Lopez. But make no mistake, Robinson is a dark horse waiting to gallop out of the shadows.

The stakes are high as the Cardinals gear up to face the Buffalo Bills on September 8. With the season opener looming large, the countdown has begun. Here’s hoping Robinson gets back on his feet, ready to charge like a bull in a china shop.

Football aficionados, stay tuned; the season’s about to kick off with a bang, and we’re just getting started!
