Jalen McMillan and Ameer Abdullah: Key Players to Watch This Season

The NFL fantasy season is winding down, with champions crowned in many leagues. However, for those still battling it out in leagues that extend into the final week of the regular season, the quest for victory continues. As fantasy managers scramble to find that last-minute gem, it’s crucial to keep an eye on the waiver wire. Here’s a look at ten players who could make a significant impact in Week 18.

The majority of fantasy football leagues are over. Champions have been crowned and a lot of fans are already looking ahead to next season. However, there are still a percentage of leagues that extend their league championships into the final week of the regular season.

So, to help all those crazies out there, here’s a look at 10 players (and other notables) you should look to add off the waiver wire. Also, be sure to check out Fantasy Dirt with me and Lindsay Rhodes five days a week … this is our last full week of shows, so don’t miss it!

Top Waiver Wire Picks for Week 18

Jalen McMillan, WR, Buccaneers

McMillan, who has been featured in previous waiver wire articles, is on a hot streak. He scored two touchdowns and racked up 23 fantasy points against the Panthers. Over the last four games, he has seen a total of 25 targets and scored no fewer than 16.7 points in each. With the Bucs facing the Saints in Week 18, he’s a solid flex option.

Ameer Abdullah, RB, Raiders

Abdullah has been a revelation, amassing 56.8 fantasy points in the last three weeks. His standout performance came against the Saints, where he dominated backfield touches with a career-high 23. If you’re still in contention, Abdullah faces the Chargers at home, making him a must-add.

Khalil Herbert, RB, Bengals

With Chase Brown nursing an ankle injury, Herbert may see an expanded role in Week 18. If Brown can’t play, Herbert is poised to take over the backfield against the Steelers. The Bengals are still in the playoff hunt, adding extra motivation for a strong performance.

Trey Benson, RB, Cardinals

James Conner’s knee injury raises questions for Week 18, and if he can’t go, Benson could step in. Although he was inactive against the Rams, if he’s healthy, he’ll be the next man up. If both Conner and Benson are out, keep an eye on veteran Michael Carter.

Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Broncos

Mims Jr. had a breakout game against the Bengals, catching eight passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns, totaling 30.2 fantasy points. With Coach Sean Payton increasing his involvement, he’s definitely worth a roster spot as the Broncos head into their next matchup.

Russell Wilson, QB, Steelers

Wilson might not have lit up the stat sheet recently, but he scored 17.7 points last week against the Chiefs. He faces a Bengals defense that has struggled against quarterbacks all season. In their earlier meeting, Wilson threw for 414 yards and three touchdowns, so he could be a sneaky start.

Olamide Zaccheaus, WR, Commanders

Zaccheaus has been on fire lately, scoring three touchdowns and accumulating 47.3 fantasy points in his last two games. He’s been targeted more than Washington’s top receiver, Terry McLaurin. With a crucial NFC East matchup against the Cowboys, he’s a player to consider.

Alec Pierce, WR, Colts

Pierce had his best game of the season against the Giants, recording six catches for 122 yards and a touchdown for 27.2 fantasy points. If the Colts stick with Joe Flacco for their finale against the Jaguars, Pierce could be a valuable addition.

Antonio Gibson, RB, Patriots

Despite Rhamondre Stevenson starting last week, Gibson led all Patriots backs in snaps and touches. With Stevenson’s fumbling issues, Gibson could see even more opportunities. Facing a Bills defense that may rest players, he’s worth a look.

Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE, Titans

Okonkwo has been heating up, scoring 43.9 points over the last three weeks. He’s finally getting the targets he deserves, and with a favorable matchup against the Texans, he could be a valuable asset for fantasy championship week.
