Josh Allen Clarifies Comments: No Beef with Stefon Diggs on Monday Night

Josh Allen clarifies comments from Monday, emphasizing he wasn't criticizing teammate Stefon Diggs.

After Monday night’s emphatic blowout over the Jaguars, Bills quarterback Josh Allen had nothing but praise for his current group of receivers, applauding them for their selflessness and team-first mentality. Many inferred Allen’s praise as a poignant commentary on former Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs.

Addressing The Speculations

On Wednesday, Allen sought to clarify his remarks, emphasizing that he wasn’t targeting Diggs specifically. “I know there’s a lot of people talking out there. Again, I’m not trying to tear down anybody,” Allen said with earnestness. “I’ve loved everybody that I’ve played with, and you don’t have to tear other people down to build each other up. We’re building each other up right now and that’s all we’re trying to do. We’re really caring about each other and everybody in this building’s got that feeling.”

Digging Deeper

Pressed further on whether his comments were about Diggs, Allen responded, “You know what I mean. You know what I mean. Whether it’s former players…”

Was Allen specifically talking about Diggs? Yeah, the mystery was finally unraveled. “Yeah, and again, I love 14, I still do,” Allen confessed passionately. “But everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing. We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now.”

The “Everybody Eats” Mentality

Reflecting on their scintillating 47-10 win where Allen masterfully distributed the ball to ten different receivers, he revealed the “everybody eats” mindset. “It’s paying dividends of what we’ve worked on throughout the entire offseason and through training camp. And, again, it could be your play this play. You never know when it’s gonna happen. And that’s the beauty of it. When guys get to buy into this and really understand, like, ‘I may not get the ball four, five times thrown to me a game, but the one or two times I do, I’m gonna have opportunities to be in the end zone. You know, it’s a fun and wonderful thing when you have a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, they don’t care about the touchdowns.’”

Allen’s face lit up, brimming with passion as he elaborated, “Throughout practice, we’ve had this mindset of like, ‘Hey, let’s just do things the right way and find ways to win football games.’ That’s what we’re doing right now.”

Reading Between The Lines

Whether Allen intended his words as a subtle critique of Diggs or not, the new team dynamic is as clear as a buffalo skyline after a storm. It’s evident that Allen views the current atmosphere within the team as a refreshing shift. Since Diggs was previously on the roster—and given his occasional demonstrative behavior during games and media interactions—it’s tough not to surmise that Allen is relishing a more unified locker room.

In the high-stakes gridiron world where egos can clash, Allen’s comments and the harmonious locker room hint at a symbiotic bond. It’s an age-old truth in football: the strength of the wolf is the pack, and the strength of the pack is the wolf. And right now, the Bills are howling with unity and determination.
