Kamara Back in Action: Returns to Practice After Back Tightness

Alvin Kamara is back at practice after a week off due to back tightness, boosting the team's offense.

Saints fans, I hope you’re sitting down because the electric Alvin Kamara has made his highly anticipated return to practice! This dynamic running back, who has the nimbleness of a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, returned to the field on Tuesday, giving fans and teammates alike a huge boost.

Kamara’s Return: A Sigh of Relief

Kamara had been sidelined for over a week due to some pesky back tightness that had everyone on edge. Coach Dennis Allen had tried to reassure us back on August 13th, describing it as “no biggie,” but the extended absence had reporters abuzz, inspecting every corner of the situation. Was Kamara staging a classic hold-in? It appears not. Allen firmly denied that Kamara’s time off had anything to do with contract negotiations, and here we are, with Kamara back where he belongs—on the grass, rather than in the headlines.

A Glimmer of the Past

Our five-time Pro Bowler had, however, made heads turn back in June when he opted out of the final practice during the mandatory minicamp. That gesture was a silent yet resonant display of his dissatisfaction with his contract situation. But, credit where credit’s due, Kamara had been diligent at training camp until that back injury had him cooling his heels.

Contract Conundrum? Not So Fast!

Now, let’s talk numbers because they never lie. Kamara has two years remaining on his current deal, and brace yourselves, his 2024 salary cap hit stands at a staggering $18.5 million, the highest on the team. Looking further ahead, his 2025 cap hit balloons to an eye-watering $29 million. However, as it stands, no guaranteed money looms on the horizon for that year.

Eyes on the Prize: Sept. 8 Season Opener Against the Panthers

We’re now fast approaching the Saints’ season opener against the Panthers on September 8, and with Kamara back in the fold, fans have every reason to hold their heads high. As the Saints charge forward, Kamara’s return is the spark they need, like a jolt of electricity in a thunderstorm. Gird your loins, football lovers—the season is just around the corner, and Kamara is ready to hit the ground running!
