Even as the Florida Gators gear up for their Gasparilla Bowl clash against Tulane, the transfer portal is buzzing with activity. A wave of athletes is making the decision to leave the program, signaling a new chapter for both the players and the team. With the unending cycle of the transfer portal in full swing, let’s take a closer look at who is heading out from Gainesville and what their departures mean for the Gators.
Florida Gators transfer portal tracker: Players who have entered the portal
First on the list is Ja’Keem Jackson, a highly-rated cornerback who has decided to transfer to LSU. Despite being a prized recruit, Jackson’s time at Florida didn’t unfold as expected. He played in 11 games during the 2023 season, recording seven tackles and breaking up a pass. Unfortunately, his 2024 season was cut short, as he participated in just two games, making four tackles. With three years of eligibility remaining, Jackson will look to make a significant impact at his new school.
Next, we have Jack Pyburn, a linebacker who has proven himself as a standout player. In his junior year, Pyburn racked up 60 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception. His impressive stats make him one of the top targets in the transfer portal, although he hasn’t completely ruled out a return to Florida.
Another notable departure is Adam Mihalek, who served as Florida’s starting kicker in 2022, successfully converting 14 of 21 field goals. Although he saw limited action in 2023, making just one of three kicks, Mihalek is back in the portal, searching for a fresh start after entering it last year as well.
Gavin Hill, a tight end who spent two seasons with the Gators without seeing any playing time, is also making the leap. Originally a defensive lineman, Hill transitioned to tight end and now has a chance to find a new opportunity in the portal.
Parker Leise, a quarterback who faced tough competition from DJ Lagway, is seeking a new home as well. Without any game action at Florida, Leise will take his four years of eligibility to another program, hoping for a chance to shine.
Another linebacker, Deuce Spurlock II, is also leaving. After a brief stint at Michigan, he transferred to Florida but didn’t see any game time. He now has two more seasons of eligibility to offer at his next stop.
Arlis Boardingham, a productive tight end, is moving on as well. In 2023, he had an impressive season, earning spots on several All-Freshman teams with 26 receptions for 289 yards and four touchdowns. However, his production dipped in 2024, catching only 18 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. With two years of eligibility remaining, Boardingham is looking for a new opportunity.
Christian Williams, an offensive lineman, played just six games over three years at Florida. As a depth player, he will have two years of eligibility left to make his mark elsewhere.
Kelby Collins, a defensive lineman, had a promising freshman season with 23 tackles and 1.5 sacks but struggled in his sophomore year, contributing only six tackles in six games. His decision to transfer comes after a disappointing season, and he will look to bounce back at a new school.
Mike Williams, another offensive lineman, didn’t see any action during his time with the Gators. He retains his full four years of eligibility and will seek playing time at a different program.
Quincy Ivory, a defensive end who came from the JUCO ranks, played two seasons at Florida but managed only one tackle. He will have one season of eligibility left with his new team.
Bryce Capers, a walk-on defensive end, spent three seasons with the Gators but only saw limited action. He will carry two seasons of eligibility to his next destination.
Justus Boone, a four-star prospect, had a limited impact during his time at Florida. In 2024, he logged 10 tackles and two tackles for loss. He will have one season of eligibility remaining as he moves on.
Lastly, Andy Jean, a wide receiver who showed promise as a freshman with six catches for 97 yards, is also entering the portal. Unfortunately, injuries hampered his 2024 season, but he still has three seasons of eligibility left to pursue a fresh start.
As the Gators navigate these departures, the impact on the team’s depth and future will be significant. With so many players seeking new opportunities, Florida will need to focus on recruiting and developing talent to fill the gaps left by these transfers.
