The Longhorns fought hard to get back into the game, but their hopes were dashed when Jack Sawyer forced a fumble on a critical fourth down, returning it 83 yards for a scoop-and-score. This play effectively sealed the 28-14 victory for Ohio State, sending them back to the College Football Playoff national championship for the first time since their 2020 loss to Alabama.
