Patriots vs Commanders NFL Preseason: When & Where to Watch Live!

Catch the Patriots vs. Commanders preseason game on [TV channel], [date], at [time]. Streaming details inside.

The NFL regular season is nearly upon us, with the anticipation building to a roar as the preseason action concludes this weekend. Brace yourselves as the New England Patriots head to Washington to clash with the Commanders this Sunday night, an unmissable spectacle featuring an intriguing matchup of rookie coaches. The action kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, with coverage on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

What had the potential to be a scintillating showdown between the 2024 NFL Draft’s No. 2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels of the Commanders, and the No. 3 overall pick, Drake Maye of the Patriots, took a twist when Commanders’ head coach Dan Quinn pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Just last Friday, Quinn, who took over after Ron Rivera’s departure at the end of last season, revealed that he’d seen enough of Daniels during the preseason. Confidently declaring the LSU star as the starting quarterback for the regular season, Quinn raised expectations sky-high.

Meanwhile, over in Patriotland, new head coach Jerod Mayo laid down his cards, announcing that Jacoby Brissett would start Sunday’s game, but fear not Patriots fans, Maye will also get his chance to shine. In the words of Mayo, “Jacoby [Brissett] is going to start the game off. Drake will play as well. Joe [Milton II] will play as well. Now, you guys can sleep. Bailey [Zappe] will play. We do have some players dealing with small things that probably won’t play and get ready for the regular season — some of our proven players.”

This season, a fresh chapter begins for New England, eager to bounce back from a dismal 4-13 record, their worst since 1992. With Bill Belichick’s era coming to an end, Mayo, a former Patriot linebacker and former Belichick assistant, steps into the spotlight.

Likewise, Washington seeks redemption after enduring a similar 4-13 slump. As both squads lick their preseason wounds—the Patriots fell 14-13 to the Eagles, while the Commanders were edged out 13-6 by the Dolphins—Sunday’s game is their final tune-up before the high-stakes regular season.
