Quinn Ewers Shares Key Lessons from His Ohio State Experience

Quinn Ewers shares insights on his growth and experiences during his tenure at Ohio State.

Quinn Ewers had a brief stint at Ohio State, but he certainly made the most of it before transferring to Texas. His journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and as he prepares to face his former team in the Cotton Bowl, the excitement is palpable.

Ewers’ Growth at Ohio State

Although Ewers spent just one semester with the Buckeyes, he was part of a quarterback room that included talents like CJ Stroud and Kyle McCord, all under the guidance of head coach Ryan Day. This experience was invaluable for Ewers, who reflected on his time there with gratitude.

“I learned a lot while I was there under Coach Day and then CJ, and just that whole room was awesome to be around,” Ewers stated. “I’m super thankful for that time that I got to spend there. I don’t regret any decision I made on going or anything like that. The main reason I went was that I felt like I had a great relationship with the coaching staff, and they were winning a lot of games. I wanted to be a part of something like that.”

Returning to Texas

Ewers’ return to Texas was driven by a desire to be closer to home and the resources he had built over time. “The reason I came back to Texas was one, you know, to be closer to where I’m from, and just closer to the resources that I have, the relationships that I’ve built over time just being from Texas,” he explained. This decision has proven fruitful, as Ewers has found success with the Longhorns, leading them into the College Football Playoff.

Day’s Fond Memories of Ewers

As the Cotton Bowl approaches, Coach Ryan Day has expressed admiration for Ewers. “Well, he was one of the first eighth-graders that I ever offered,” Day recalled. “He was in our camp here in the Woody [Hayes Athletic Center]. I saw a young — he was a boy at the time, really, who just had a tremendous release. I remember grabbing him and his dad and saying: Man, you’ve got a bright future ahead of you. I don’t know if this is good or bad, but we’re going to offer you a scholarship to Ohio State, even in eighth grade.”

This early recognition of Ewers’ talent speaks volumes about his potential. Day continued, “It was a little bit strange how it all shook out. He decided to come, really, in the middle of preseason camp for us. But again, with college football, you look to adapt the best you can.”

The Cotton Bowl Showdown

As Ewers prepares to lead Texas into battle against Ohio State, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Buckeyes are currently favored by 4.5 points, making Texas the underdog in this highly anticipated matchup. But Ewers is ready to rise to the occasion, showcasing the skills he honed during his time in Columbus.

The Cotton Bowl isn’t just another game for Ewers; it’s a chance to prove himself against the team that once held his future in its hands. With the eyes of the college football world on him, Ewers is determined to make a statement.
