Seahawks edged past the Patriots 23-20 in a thrilling overtime battle, securing their victory with a crucial field goal.

Jason Myers cemented his hero status by nailing his third field goal of the day, a 31-yard strike in overtime, to gift the Seahawks a thrilling 23-20 victory over the Patriots. ¡Qué emoción, amigos! With this nail-biting win, the Seahawks move to a perfect 2-0, while the Patriots drop to 1-1.

Overtime Drama: Seahawks Seize the Day

After the Patriots couldn’t find their rhythm and went three-and-out to start overtime, the Seahawks took over from their own 16-yard line. In a crucial moment, Tyler Lockett snagged a clutch 16-yard reception. Then, a controversial but game-changing 20-yard pass interference penalty on Patriots defensive back Jonathan Jones set the Seahawks up for Myers’ game-winning field goal.

Geno Smith Lights Up the Field

Geno Smith was nothing short of spectacular, completing 33 of 44 passes for an impressive 327 yards and a touchdown. DK Metcalf was his go-to guy, catching 10 passes for 129 yards, including an electrifying 56-yard touchdown. Not to be outdone, rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba hauled in 12 receptions for 117 yards, demonstrating poise and skill beyond his years.

Patriots’ Ground Game Falls Short

The Patriots showcased a powerful ground attack with a total of 185 rushing yards. Antonio Gibson carried the load with 11 carries for 96 yards, while Rhamondre Stevenson bulldozed his way with 21 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. However, their aerial attack was less impactful. Jacoby Brissett completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, with Hunter Henry catching eight passes for 109 yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

Defining Moments

  • Myers’ 31-yard game-winner
