Titans Trim Roster: Haskins, Philips Released Ahead of Season

Hassan Haskins and Kyle Philips among players released by Titans to narrow their roster to 53 players.

In a blockbuster move shaking up the NFL, the Tennessee Titans traded young quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers on Monday. Within 24 hours, the Titans didn’t waste time, as they bid farewell to two more members from their 2022 draft class, running back Hassan Haskins and wide receiver Kyle Philips. These two talents, who had high hopes in the Titans’ locker room, were waived as part of the team’s efforts to trim down to the 53-player limit. For those keeping score, Haskins was drafted in the fourth round, while Philips came on board in the fifth round.

Unforgettable Cuts and Moves

The Titans’ roster overhaul didn’t stop there. A whirlwind of releases followed, leaving fans buzzing. Defensive linemen Abdullah Anderson, Quinton Bohanna, Khalid Duke, and Isaiah Iton found themselves following the departure path. Not to mention, the offensive linemen Geron Christian, Corey Levin, Cole Spencer, Leroy Watson, and Lachavious Simmons also packed their bags.

High Drama on Defense and Offense

The cleaning continued, with linebacker Shane Ray, an array of defensive backs including Tre Avery, Shyheim Carter, Caleb Farley, Eric Garror, Matthew Jackson, Robert Javier, Gabe Jeudy-Lally, and Anthony Kendall being waived. Wide receivers Kearis Jackson, Mason Kinsey, and Bryce Oliver, kicker Brayden Narveson, and running back Jabari Small completed the list of released players.

As if that wasn’t dramatic enough, linebacker Chance Campbell and defensive end TK McLendon were placed on injured reserve, while wide receiver Colton Dowell was moved to the regular season PUP list, further intensifying the Titans’ roller-coaster ride.

The Titans’ New Chapter

With these changes, the Titans are clearly signaling a new era, possibly a more daring and dynamic one. The Titans’ management is not just shuffling the deck— they are rebooting a strategy that will have every fan strapped in their seats, gripping the edges as game day approaches. The release and waiver decisions were not made lightly and reflect a bold approach to leveling up the team and unlocking the potential hidden in their roster.

For Titans fans, it might feel like an emotional mixed bag. Yet, like a thrilling roller coaster ride through the peaks and valleys of the NFL, it’s all part of the journey. As the team regroups and looks forward to the new season, hope and excitement course through Nashville. Get your popcorn ready, because this season promises to be as electrifying as a last-minute Hail Mary!
