Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is set to undergo an MRI on his left knee this Monday, as reported by multiple sources. This news comes after an intense game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
In the latter part of the third quarter of the Vikings’ commanding 34-7 victory over the Texans, former Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter was called for roughing the passer upon wrapping around Darnold’s legs.
Despite visibly suffering on the sidelines, Darnold showed remarkable resilience by returning to the game almost immediately after sitting out briefly. He was momentarily replaced by Nick Mullens but soon rejoined his team on the field.
“He’s fine, and that’s all I’ll say about it,” Darnold confidently told Pro Football Talk on Sunday night, addressing concerns about the condition of his knee.
Darnold, aged 27, delivered an impressive performance, finishing with 181 yards and four touchdown passes, helping the Vikings improve their record to an impeccable 3-0 with the triumph in Minneapolis.
In his inaugural season with Minnesota, the former No. 3 overall draft pick has been a revelation, completing an impressive 67.9 percent of his passes for a total of 657 yards, with eight touchdowns and just two interceptions.
