One of the standout stories in the NFL this season is the remarkable performance of the Los Angeles Chargers’ defense. Through nine games, they have not allowed any opponent to score more than 20 points in a single contest. With an impressive average of just 13.1 points allowed per game, the Chargers are on track to achieve the best defensive record since the legendary 2006 Ravens. This kind of defensive prowess is what every fantasy manager dreams of having on their roster.
However, not all defenses are created equal. On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Carolina Panthers, who are struggling mightily, allowing over 30 points per game. Surprisingly, they managed to hold the New York Giants, led by Daniel Jones, to just 17 points last week in Germany. This inconsistency highlights the unpredictability of NFL defenses, making it crucial for fantasy managers to carefully evaluate their options.

Best fantasy defenses to start in Week 11
Looking at the matchups, the Minnesota Vikings are primed for a strong showing this week. They face the Tennessee Titans, and with rookie quarterback Will Levis struggling to find his footing, this could be a perfect opportunity for the Vikings to shine. Levis has had three games this season where the Titans’ offense has been held to under 250 yards, and this week could very well be another.
The Cleveland Browns also have a favorable matchup against a depleted New Orleans offense. With Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward leading the charge, they should be able to disrupt Derek Carr and contain the struggling Saints’ receivers. Expect a solid performance from the Browns as they look to capitalize on the Saints’ offensive woes.
Meanwhile, the New York Jets are in a prime position to bounce back against an Indianapolis offense that is in disarray. With Joe Flacco under center, the Jets’ defense can take advantage of an offense lacking a clear identity. If they can effectively contain Jonathan Taylor, fantasy managers can expect a productive day from the Jets.
Defenses on bye in Week 11
As we dive deeper into Week 11, it’s important to note which defenses are on bye.
Arizona Cardinals: With only two weeks of double-digit points this season, the Cardinals have been more of a matchup-based start. If you have them on your roster, consider sending them to the waiver wire for a more reliable option.
Carolina Panthers: The Panthers are currently the worst defense in the NFL, allowing over 30 points per game. They should not be on any fantasy roster, especially in leagues smaller than 32 teams.
New York Giants: Although the Giants have shown some fantasy appeal with their sack totals, they are not worth holding onto during their bye week. They should be dropped until they return against the Buccaneers in Week 12.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Buccaneers have struggled against the pass, ranking in the bottom tier for fantasy points allowed. They should also be dropped from fantasy rosters this week.
Fantasy defense sleepers for Week 11
For those looking for hidden gems, the Detroit Lions could be a sneaky option. With Trevor Lawrence potentially sidelined, Mac Jones may take the reins for Jacksonville. Given Jones’ struggles, this matchup presents a golden opportunity for the Lions’ defense to shine.
The Miami Dolphins have been one of the worst defenses this season, but they’re set to face the struggling Las Vegas Raiders. Without Davante Adams, the Raiders have struggled to score, averaging less than 4.0 yards per play in recent outings. The Dolphins could capitalize on this matchup, making them a potential sleeper for fantasy managers.
As we gear up for Week 11, remember to stay informed and make strategic decisions to optimize your fantasy lineup. The right defense can make all the difference in your weekly matchups!
